It really brings great joy while adopting a child into the lives of both the parents and the child. Since, every adoption varies & there are some basic disciplines that all adoptive parents should follow.

Love: It really goes without saying, but genuinely loving an adopted child will go a long way.

Trust: Keep your word and show them that you will always remain reliable and trustworthy people in their lives.

Advocacy: There will be people in many extents of a child’s life such as school, church, medical clinics and even other families who are not perceptive to the special needs that come with adoption. It is critical that adoptive parents advocate for their children. Don’t be scared to ask and answer questions about adoption honestly in front of your child.

Openness: Most adopted kids want to learn about their biological family. It is best to be upfront about the details that you do know and allow them to seek out more information.
