With every milestone our children make, one door closes and another opens.  It all starts with the bottle and never seems to end.  Next comes the diapers, the crib, the pacifier and the toddler bed.  Time seems to move so quickly yet when we look back, it seems like ages ago that it all began.

We don’t often think of the stages and phases a mom…

“Outside the Box” Advice for Parents of Kids with ADHD

There are many challenges associated with ADHD, and often parents and children alike become frustrated and overwhelmed by addressing those challenges. Children with ADHD impact their siblings and parents unintentionally, but parents have the power to help their children focus their energy in positive ways and control and reduce their symptoms. Here are a few “outside the box” tips for doing so:

Be positive. Addressing behaviors and challenges associated with ADHD is…

Bye Bye Binky: A Guide to Letting Go

IMG_9030

Today was an emotional day that has been in the works for weeks.  Today we said goodbye to my three year old’s pacifier, which he referred to as “Me-Me”.  This was not a new concept to me as he is my third child, but still as emotional as the first.

If you…

Can We Please Say Goodbye to Goody Bags?

goody bag

Let’s cut right to the chase people.  Goody bags are basically pointless and usually end up in the garbage, right?  Can we come together as moms to ban the goody bag?  Please?

Why do we often feel the need to…

To the Parents of the Missing Boy:

toddler-390535_640

You don’t know me and I don’t know you, but yesterday, I was looking for your little boy.  We had been swimming at a hotel down the beach from yours when a security guard entered the pool and asked for all of the parent’s attention.  There was a little boy, only three years old in a bathing suit bottom without a shirt, who had wandered away on the beach.  My heart sank. We were to keep our eyes open.

The hair raised on my arms and on the back of my neck and I felt…

Kids, NO Means NO…or Does It?

no-68481_640

How many times have you said “NO” to your kids, yet they still keep on asking? Ummm…how about every second of every hour of every day.  Yah…in my house too!  If your answer is never, I don’t believe you!

Does this scenario sound familiar?

“Mommy can we have ice…

Families and Fighting…Is It All Bad?

stop fighting My husband and I recently got into an argument and while of course I was right, as usual, I could not just walk away.  I knew that my kids were watching but I needed to express how I was feeling at that moment and don’t regret it.

Aren’t we supposed to save our arguments when…

The Mommy Camp Diaries:

The summer has arrived, which means lots of camps for our little ones and that includes “Mommy Camp”.  What is “Mommy Camp” you ask?  It’s when your child does not attend a structured camp but instead hangs with you, Mom, a.k.a. the “Mommy Camp”…

Tears at Camp…and Not From My Child:

Yes, I was that mom that could barely get enough strength to leave camp this morning and get on with my day.  The one who had tears in her eyes, the one whose heart you could hear pounding and the mom who looked sad and mournful.  I know what you are thinking.  How could I be mourning my new found freedom of having three kids in camp?  Why wasn’t I shouting “Hooray” and celebrating my day ahead sans kids?

10 "Momfessions" That Should Never be Shared (Accept with You):

As moms, we are expected to act a certain way in order to be good role model for out little ones.  Well, I am here to tell you that it may look like that on the outside, but here’s what’s really going on in the inside.  You can deny all you want but we all have thoughts and actions throughout parenting that we should probably keep to…

Crib vs. Bed: When is it time for the Switch?

Many parents ask me how they know when it is the right time to move their little one from the crib to a toddler bed.   Unfortunately the answer is going to be different for everyone because every child is different.  The good news is that you will figure it out.

Any new stage and transition in your child’s life is difficult (for you both), but in time, it all settles in and makes perfect sense.  As always, Mommy Masters is here to support you and…

A Mother's Day Reminder: Reflect and Relax

I have heard from so many moms lately about how stressed and worn out they all are.  One of them would be me.  We can all relate to the ever popular, “If only there was one more hour to the day” and the, “I just can’t get it all done” slogans.

Gerald-G-Busy-Mom

Most days we feel like we are drowning.  Some days we get thrown a life preserver, some days we just don’t have it in us to fight anymore, and other days we have the strength to get our head above water and actually swim to…

April Parenting Tip: How to Handle Unpredictability

There are many words that can be used to describe motherhood but today, my pick is “unpredictable“.  What you think is a day planned one way can turn into a whole other day in the snap of a finger.  As a mom, you need to be able to quickly adjust and roll with the punches.  This of course is no easy feat but it can be done.…

No, I am Not Trying for a Girl so STOP ASKING!

If I had a dollar for every person that questioned me about the sex of my children and had an opinion on my non-existent future child, I would be sitting on my private beach with a delicious cold cocktail in my hand waiting for my personal chef to deliver my lunch. BUT…sadly I don’t, so I am sitting in my house writing this article…
