I spent this Valentine’s Day with my oldest daughter while my husband spent it with our youngest. We had a great evening. She assisted me with a shopping event while updating me on the latest happenings in her life. I listened to her and thought…my daughter is now a woman. I pray that she finds a love that touches her soul the way her father has touched mine and the way my father touched my mother’s soul. My parents were married more than 50 years when my father…Continue

What a week. Last weekend I had a shopping event in Columbus GA and was noticeably tired. My trusty assistant and baby girl "J" was an enormous help to me when we returned home. I thought I might be coming down with something so I told "J" I needed to rest. Well, it was a little more serious than needing a short respite. I HAD THE FLU! and it knocked me on my butt. I thought to myself, I do not have time for this. Well, it did not matter if I had time or not. I folded hard. I mean the…Continue
Children’s Sports Related Eye Injuries are all too common. Many states are taking extra precautions by introducing Bills that support educational programs that protect our children's eyes. However, there are steps you can take.
It is recommended that all children participating in school sports or recreational sports wear protective eyewear.
Recently I watched a…Continue

The last 3 months have been a whirlwind. Kids out of school for the summer. Do I need to say more! : - ) "J" is high maintenance folks and thinks she needs to be busy every minute of the day. With that said I had to put on my Fab Mom gear tis summer and get moving. Karate, beach activities, tennis, festivals, pool activities and the list goes on...... Many of you will appreciate why mommies need mommytime : - ). Some of us feel guilty about wanting to spend time by ourselves. DO NOT…Continue

I have not posted on my blog or to the fab mom facebook page in awhile. Where do I start? The past 2 months are somewhat of a blur. My oldest daughter graduated from college this month and I have been on a rollercoaster that would not stop. There have been parties, graduation preparation, tears, apartment hunting, more tears, car shopping and even more tears....Why the tears you may ask? My baby has grown up to be a…Continue

NEW YORK -- Forget the usual vacant model stare. It was smiles and high fives with Iman around this time last year as real moms of all shapes and sizes took over New York Fashion Week, working a runway Thursday with strollers and pregnant tummies, looking chic for everything from school drop-off to date night.
They walked in the first-ever "Strut: The Fashionable Mom Show," organized by two of their own at the city's Library…
We are all familiar with the Pay It Forward concept. Well, Fab Mom would like to challenge you to Fab Mom It Forward.
Fab Mom It Forward is when moms support other moms by offering words of encouragement; provide comfort during tough times; use personal or professional skills to build self-esteem; send a humorous card just because; sit with a friends child/children for a few hours while they get a mani-pedi or makeover or plan a moms…

I enjoy meditation and quiet time to reflect not just on my life but my life with my husband and children. We want the best for our children and want them to have contented lives. As moms we want our children to be wise and not make foolish decisions. We want them to treat their peers with respect and not disregard. We want them to be modest and not arrogant. Bottom line - We want our children to live "Happily Ever After." Well, I'm not sure if there is such a thing. However, I…Continue

Happy New Year Fab Moms!!!
For many 2012 was a slowing moving blur and for others it flew by at warp speed. For some 2012 was filled with 60 hour work weeks; play dates; taking the kids to lacrosse, basketball, soccer or football practice. We chased our little ones through the mall, endured a visit from the mother-in-law, and tried to decipher 5th grade geometry. Well, you get the idea. The life of a fab mom can be stressful and the stress can be consuming. With…

This evening when we sat down to supper my 10 year old daughter asked my husband and me about the shooting in Connecticut. I was shocked as my husband and I had decided to wait until this evening to discuss it with her because we knew she would hear about it in school on Monday morning. In a matter of seconds I grabbed "J" and began to hug her. "Mommy, I can't breath" she said as she gasped for air. I was terrified for her to leave my side. I begin to reflect internally on September 11,…Continue

Several days ago "J" and I spent a few hours volunteering. We were making a difference while sharing quality time together. Volunteering is selfless and gets kids away from the mentality that everything is about them. Rather than starting out their lives with a view of entitlement, they are more likely to have a greater understanding of responsibility, compassion, and tolerance. "J" has met with people who have different cultural views, values, and economic circumstances. Find volunteer…Continue
Have you ever had one of those days? You know-those days when you feel like a broken record. When you have to repeat yourself over and over and over and.......okay, I won't drone on. I think it best to illustrate just how the day went. Check out thisYouTube video and please try to keep up. It's evening now and the rest of the family is settling down for the…Continue

Have you ever watched how other moms interact with their children? Sure you have.
Today a young mom in a grocery store stepped over her son while he laid flat on the floor in the cereal aisle having an all- out screaming tantrum (been there done that). As I passed slowly and smiled sincerely, she apologized profusely with sheer desperation and tears in her eyes. My heart immediately went out to her. Here is where things got interesting. There were two other women in the aisle…Continue
I always make it a point to have a family discussion during supper. Don't get me wrong- rarely do we discuss theories related to Plato's Allegory of the Cave or Einsteins Theory of Relativity. We discuss episodes of Disney's Good Luck Charlie or why there are single or double lines on the roadway. We even discuss the existence of Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy and the Easter Bunny. Our topics range from why babies are wrinkled when they are born to why I do not allow my…Continue
