If your kids are past infancy and you've never had a bad mom day, I can't be friends with you. I just can't. It will never work. You are not from this planet, and I think it's best for my kids if I don't bring extra terrestrials around.
I mean every sane person has a bad mom day.
If you're here on earth, you know exactly what I'm talking about. Sometimes it starts from the moment you wake up. Other times if creeps up on you around noon. Everything everyone is saying is…
I used to make a lot of money, though I didn't realize it at the time. That 20/20 hindsight can really burn some days. I was doing really well for myself and for my family financially, but I wasn't happy. I wasn't in love with my job anymore, and I tried to compensate by spending the money I was making. Writing at Starbucks, yoga, the gym, spas, masks, and spoiling my family. When we found out we were expecting another little one, I decided I needed to make a change. I know…

What items do I need to pack in my hospital bag when preparing to have a baby? Most new moms tend to over pack their own hospital bag and most of the items that they take with them are safely tucked away in their bag and are not used. Most of the time the hospital will supply your basic supplies such as soap, lotion,…Continue

The summers seem to be getting hotter and hotter each year. It is not always possible to avoid a pregnancy during the summer months, if not more mom’s would avoid it. If you do end up pregnant during the summer months, you can expect that it will feel hotter outside than a normal summer due to your growing belly. A pregnant mom during…Continue

Many mom’s don’t think about how their current job duties may affect their health during the course of their pregnancy, especially, towards the very end when you are often the most uncomfortable. Most mom’s will be able to work through the entire duration of their pregnancy with very minimal job restrictions or pregnancy related complications. However, if you…Continue

Are you planning on returning to work after your maternity leave is over? If so, you need to begin thinking about where you want your child to go to daycare at while you are at work. In fact, you need to begin your researching your options roughly five or six months ahead of time to ensure that you will have a secure spot for your child. Many providers…Continue

I read a lot of Mother's Day blogs and articles online yesterday, and one article was about the pressure to be the perfect mom. Moms are not even willing to admit to the every day silly mistakes that all parents make anymore, because no mom wants to expose herself to the criticism and scorn from the other "perfect" parents. Back in the day, you could screw up occasionally and admit it without fear of universal…Continue

I spent the whole month of December praying that Baby S would be late. I was dreading the newborn stage. Plus, we did not know her name at this point (I wanted Scarlet, Eric wanted Fiona, neither of us liked each other's favorite name [I did not want my daughter's name to invoke the image of Shrek!! Like anyone would really think of stunning Fiona from…

There are none. Especially, don't use it to brush your teeth. Yes, I tried it; No, not on purpose; And no, I wasn't even old or a mom yet, so I really can't use senility, "Mommy Brain," or sleep deprivation for an excuse.
I was babysitting my niece one day, and we both took a big nap after lunch. I woke up…Continue

New York City is not a bad place to be pregnant at age 50. But even though most New Yorkers have seen it all and make fewer assumptions, I was prepared for awkward situations, I thought. I knew strangers might look at me, especially on the subway, and wonder, "fat or pregnant?" I've done it myself! I will stand up and offer my seat (most of the time as long as I haven't had a horrible day) to older people (and that…Continue

Pregnancy is an exciting time and most mom’s can’t wait to meet their baby. As your baby grows, your belly will continue to grow and get bigger so that you can house your growing baby. Most doctors recommend that women gain between 10 to 40 pounds depending on your starting weight. Talk to your doctor or…Continue

During my weekly pre-natal appointment, I couldn’t help but think about what a shame it is that this practice met me at this point of my pregnancy. I’m definitely not myself. I’m at the end of this roller-coaster ride. Ready for it to be over. Ready to get off and not ride again until I eat an ice-cream cone, take a bathroom break, lounge around,…Continue
