Genius

Sunday morning, drinking tea and watching CNN. They are talking about the future. A very interesting and encouraging perspective was presented. Computers will be way smarter and faster at processing information than humans. Supposed to be a good thing. Then they were talking about the nature of genius. They point out that most if not all “Genius Moments” in history came about because people were working together, sharing ideas when someone came up with the “Ah,Ha!”

Being, gasp, 64,… Continue

How to Deal With Painful Pimples on the Lips?

Getting one or more pimple on the lips is not only painful but also very unsightly. There is no possible cover up that you can use, unlike the pimples on any other part of your face. You may get annoyed and start popping these pimples which will only cause the condition to get worse - more…

Easy Steps for Law of Attraction

That moment you realize that everything is going right, all that you need or want is coming into your life right when its suppose to be. Some call this luck, coincidence, or just plan chance, but I call this synchronicity or being in the vortex. This whole week I have been focusing my attention on what I do want. Everything you can imagine has gone wrong and I just didn't let it phase me. I just allowed the Universe to do what it must in order for me to get what I need. I have been reading…

Power of the Pen!

Some people would say that the cost of silence is free. Those people are not mothers. There is always a cost. Like when your toddler is having a full on tantrum during the 2nd hour of a 14 hour trip so you give him the remaining ½ of a chocolate bar knowing full well that it will leave the worst mess on him, the car seat, the car, etc. but your sanity and that of your husbands is well worth the mess.  Or maybe you plopped junior in front of the TV…

Wholesome, Flavorful, & Kid-friendly Meals (includes coupons & recipes!)

When I hear the word Campbell’s my mind goes back to a simpler time.  A time when the biggest decision of the day was what type of cereal I should have for breakfast. When my day would consist of play and not coming home till the street light came on, when there were no iPhones, emails to check, or bills to pay. When I hear the word Campbell’s I think of childhood and warm tomato soup with grilled cheese sandwiches, warm cheesy chicken casseroles, etc. Campbell’s was definitely a…

Accepting When I Have no Control

Keeping my head up when things are rough is hard. I will admit I had a pity party last night, but today I will keep my head up and accept that sometimes things are out of my control. Sometimes no matter how hard I work at something or how much effort I put forth things may not work out in my favor.

Two weeks ago I turned in a resume and letter for promotion to Detective Lieutenant. I have been a Detective since 2008 with a 1 year leave of absence. I also have a degree and 2 years of… Continue

The Salt and Ice Challenge – Kids Are Using Table Salt and Ice to Cause Painful Burns to Their Skin

Yesterday afternoon when my son got into the car, he was asking his sister if she ever put salt on ice.  I didn’t realize that he was talking about putting the salt and ice combination on his skin.  I just assumed that his science teacher was teaching them about temperature changes using salt and ice.  Then this afternoon, I noticed a huge red spot…

Doggone Elf...

I like to consider myself a creative person.  But a certain topic that occurs at this time of year always renders me stupid.

Our elf, Marty, first joined us in 2011.  This was the first year that the Elf On A Shelf really became a widely known phenomenon.  The elves were intended to cause all kinds of mischief around the house.  I intended for our elf to be somewhat of a classroom monitor who would report back to Santa any notable behavior.  Our elf didn’t only appear at Christmas…

How to Save on Gas

For a long time I just accepted that the costs of gas were a part of life.  I never checked which gas station was cheapest; I always figured that they were pretty much all the same and who cares about a cent or two here and there? When I moved recently, just a couple of towns over (from richy-richy Avon, CT to working-class Bristol); same state, same county even, I couldn’t help but notice that gas is always .20 to .25 cents cheaper across the board.  I am still having sticker shock and…

Is the lastborne missing something out?

It all began in the hospital after our second child's birth; she could be with me all the time as her sister had had. However, there was a specific reason for that: The newly born J had to stay in the hospital because of low blood sugar. I fel t quilty for not being able to be all the time with the baby. On the other hand, when I was with her in the hospital, I felt quilty for not being at home with the 10-months old big…

Miley Cyrus VMA Performance is Inappropriate For Prime Time Television When Children Are Likely Watching TV

Miley Cyrus Seeks The Wrong Attention

I didn’t get a chance to watch the VMA award shows on T.V. a few nights ago but I have seen clips of Miley Cyrus’s big performance.  As a mom, I am outraged and feel as if this type of content shouldn’t be on prime time television.  After all, many families…
