Keeping Dad Involved During Pregnancy – My Experience

I remember the morning that I took the pregnancy test on September 26, 2010, just a few days after my husband’s birthday.  The pregnancy test turned positive right away.  We had been trying for a long time to have a baby and we were finally blessed with the news that we were expecting.  At the time, the…

To Tell Or Not To Tell

Sunday arrives. I still haven’t decided if I’m going to tell my family or not. I just don’t know what to say or how to say it. Well, let me be honest, my younger sister and my younger brother already know. So basically who’s left to tell are my older sister and older brother and my parents. And…

Sick and Bored, What To Do?

It's frustrating being sick. If you can't sleep but have to rest what do you do?  For the first few hours it may be fun but after that it is just boring.  How do we keep the mind busy while the body rests?

For a lucky few this isn't a problem.  They are able to sleep and heal.  Sleep is a struggle for many of the rest of us though and those hours in bed or on the couch get very long.

Whether you are a child or an adult there are lots of options though.  Some you may not be…

Love Dare Challenge Day 2: Kindness in a skillet

Today's Love Dare was accomplished with a skillet of Hamburger Helper, which my husband loves, but which I find barely palatable. I consider myself an above average cook and am always trying out new recipes or creating new dishes, and while Steve enjoys most of my creations, I get the most satisfied reaction from him when I stick with the basics.

Today I made an effort to stick with the basics of love--patience and kindness.

I have… Continue

Props to my husband, yo!

"In most marriages there is a 50% chance of divorce. In marriages where there is a child with a life-threatening disease the rate goes up to 80%.”

Peter and I were sitting at our very first cancer group meeting of any kind at an American Cancer Society R.O.C.K. weekend in Orlando. At Disney World. Oh yes, we were sitting in the happiest place on earth being told there was an 80% chance that by the time we got our child to the 5-year survival mark, our marriage would be on the… Continue
