The Mommy Wars: Stay at home or Go to work

When my brother and I were little, my Mom was a stay at home mom (thanks, Mom!). When we got older, she got a job to provide for us (thanks, Mom!). And even though she wasn't home after school or couldn't be around to make dinner every night, we turned out fine. We knew we were loved.…

Benefits from Cleaning Your Windows Regularly

Many people think that cleaning their windows is not a mandatory task, and they don't need to do it so often. Some people even think that they don't have to do it at all, but they are quite wrong. If you don't clean your windows…

Cooped up and lonely

After a completely non-scientific, multi-year study that consisted of me questioning other women, it turns out that this is the typical life cycle for women who work from home:…

Want to Get Paid to Blog & Tweet !

This is sooo very cool.  I've been doing it since January for Purina, Dollar General, Oil of Olay, NutriSystem, Samsung, Crest and Braun.  Why not get paid for something you like to do, right?  The joy is you get to do it from the comfort of your own home too.

I've been working with IZEA since the beginning of January advertising and have been paid already for the brand names I mentioned above to post and tweet.  All I have to do is bid on their job and I just paid $5.00 up front to…

When your bully lives at home

My son likes to tell me stories about his classmates' behavior at school. (He's a bit of a talker.) I know all about the children who use too many paper towels, or the ones who never sleep during quiet time, and even about the ones who have too many "hateful words." I remind my son that I am only interested in his behavior. Then I remind him that…

I know what's in your garage

As I've previously complained, I run in the mornings. I try to stay focused on my breath and my stride and not slipping on unseen ice on the sidewalk and falling on my butt (again), but sometimes I get distracted: Mostly by people's garages.…

My First Entry

My name is Mary but everyone has called me Katie since birth. I was once a wild party girl and I am now a military/ law enforcement wife and a stay at home mother to a beautiful daughter.

I grew up in a tiny town in southern Arizona. Moved from West Virginia at a young age and noone agreed with my country thinking.. (although now its cool to be country!)  I moved to Flagstaff after graduation and did not succeed in school. I was that small town upbeat girl in a whole new world and it…

Ten Things Not to Ask Your Wife When You Come Home

Husband!

I am so happy you are home from work. Before you walk through the threshold here are some guidelines of what NOT to ask:

1. Wow, what happened here? Life, Life happened here. The minions came home from school, and the living room, kitchen, playroom, and all other applicable areas exploded. If I wanted to follow them around with a basket, vacuum, and trash can, I would. I’m doing my best dude.

2. Whats for dinner? Food, food that…

Trying to stay off the "mommy track" at work

As mentioned in the past, I work for a great company with a great group of people. There are a lot of women on my team, and there are a lot of mothers. We understand what it means to be a working parent: We watch one another's backs and fill in when family emergencies arise.…

Nursery Gliders aren't Just for the Nursery!

Had you told me there was a possibility that I could have moved my nursery glider to another room in my home, I would have gotten a completely different fabric....completely different style.....most likely a completely different chair all-together.  Oh, and I forgot about my husband.  I probably would have picked one that fit him, too.  Considering the fact that I'm 5-feet tall and he is 6-foot 3 inches, we would have had to look all over the place, right?

If we were having another…

Japenese Tips for Tidying Up

I've spent the last week cleaning and clearing out things from both my home and my storage.  Inspired by a book I read about "tidying up" and how we cling to things we don't need for reasons hard to explain, but possible to overcome, I set out to create a home environment in which I wasn't constantly having to clean clutter every single day.

The book is a…

Paint an Inspiring Home

Nowadays, a lot of people are suffering from stress. It is indeed a serious condition often associated with high-blood pressure (and we all know why that is bad), headaches, and fertility problems on the long run. Well, what can I say? God has decided that stress is no good for a baby and won't allow us to have one, unless we minimize the stress in our lives. For this reason, I am here to give you an idea where to start from.…

Being broke can be a blessing.

I used to make a lot of money, though  I didn't realize it at the time. That 20/20 hindsight can really burn some days.   I was doing really well for myself and for my family financially, but  I wasn't happy. I wasn't in love with my job anymore, and I tried to compensate by spending the money I was making. Writing at Starbucks, yoga, the gym, spas, masks, and spoiling my family.  When we found out we were expecting another little one, I decided I needed to make a change. I know…

An Overview on Top Waxing At Home Products

Waxing, just like tweezing, can hurt. However, the pain usually comes with the strips and not due to removal of individual hairs. The waxing process is better than hair remover gels or creams because they don’t have unwanted smell. Also, waxing doesn’t give you nasty red rashes. The bikini line as well as the legs isn’t left with cuts and nicks, unlike the aftermath of shaving. Over-the-counter waxes include paraffin and beeswax and they come in containers which can be heated easily. You can…
