The results of the media diet

Last week, I came across the term media diet and decided to track my own use of media throughout a typical week. I was especially interested in seeing how much I used media (specifically, my smartphone, the computer and TV) in front of my impressionable son.…

Oh my! I blew off a trip to IHOP for a freakin diet?

Did I mention how much I'm hating this diet? Ok, well I don't "hate" it, but damn it, it's ruining my social life!

In my line of work, networking is very important. One of the places most networking or socializing takes place, is at a restaurant. I am not the type of person to walk into a restaurant with my snack bag filled with raw nuts watching…

OMG!!! Can You Believe I Shopped Organic?

Keeping up with this new dieting experience, I had to pick up a few items I kept forgetting to look for. Who knew Walmart and the local grocery stores sold organic food? I know, I know...that's a given. But, I never had an interest in them because I assumed the price would be way to high for my piggy bank. That was definitely true when considering the price of items at the grocery and "real" food grocery stores with the price…

The Fast Metabolism Diet Experience

Day 1 (April 29, 2013): I started the morning excited. I made my strawberry smoothie, following the recipe to the 'T', but after the blender stopped blending and the time came for me to put my smoothie into a cup, I realized the size of my drink was a lot smaller than what I was expecting. Goodness, so the drinks sold at restaurants must be 4 servings in one.…

Everything looked good so far, then I opened up the…

Is your heart heading for disaster?

Have you been told by the doctor that you have high cholesterol? Does it concern you? I have and yes it does concern me. The build-up of plaque in the arteries, called Atherosclerosis, can be very serious. With an unhealthy diet, cholesterol collects in the artery walls and can cause deadly heart attacks. I for one, would love to be around to see my grandkids, if my son ever has any that is (he is a little shy, but that’s a whole other blog…lol). In my research, I have learned that certain…
