Ejected

Saturday was Elliott’s basketball tournament. We live in a small town, so her tournament was not an all day, all weekend kind of event. There were only four teams in her league with a single elimination tournament. Being from a small town, every team had at least one of Elliott’s best friends on the roster. Since the start of the season, I think she had played each team at least four times, so she kind of knew what she was up against.

Blogging Behind the Scenes

Close all the doors; turn off the lights; draw the curtains. I left my comfort zone, just for a short time, then retreated after realising I wasn't ready. I wanted to join in, I really did. I wanted to experience what confidence felt like, how the rush would beckon me forward, away from all I knew.

Mom's calendar can be exhausting

When I was back at school, I used to occasionally have something my roommates coined Sunday-night syndrome. You know, the nervous stomach, the fatigue ... that unsettled feeling.

It wasn't because I was a bad student, or I was dreading a test or anything. I would just look at everything I had to do that week and feel overwhelmed.

Little did I know how easy I had it back then - just me, work and classes. I can't believe I complained.

These days, I look at my helpful mom…

My beautiful, chaotic, eccentric Gaby-baby and I love him.

One of the darker sides of Autism, is the violent behavior. One that strikes at the cord of all mothers who’s heart aches when their child hurts themselves or others.

My pregnancy with him was just the beginning of our struggles. I have a pacemaker because I was born with 3 wholes in my heart. When I was pregnant, they found a 4th. All the doctors wanted me to abort, I am so very thrilled that  I didn’t. The rest of the pregnancy, I had braxton hicks and was put on bed rest. When it…

Free Mutimedia Children’s Books

I came across a wonderful site of free e-books for kids.  I think my favorite part is that, it is highlighted word for word. Though, I felt some of the voice overs where a little slow, it would be ideal for a child who is just beginning to read. This would be a great resource for homeschoolers, children who are just learning to read, and for children ranging from pre-K to about 3rd grade…

FOUND HER CRYING ON HER KNEES

I'll never forget this one... A few years back, we were on vacay, chillin' by the pool. About 15 feet away from us I noticed a woman on her knees, with her head against a concrete wall. That's what caught my eyes. She was crying so hard. That's what caught my ears. A sunbather, pool attendant & lifeguard all walked by, asking her if she was OK. I ran over & knelt beside her. "Ma'am, I am a pastor's wife, may I pray for you?" Looking up from the concrete wall, still crying, she nodded… Continue
