PInterest Link Party & Healthier Choices

One of my fastest growing Pinterest boards is the one on Healthier Choices on Food and Life. It isn't just a diet board but a board on how to make healthier choices for you and your family. I would fill that board up with thousands of pins because the ideas keep pouring in. I'm sure eventually it will get larger. I try and only add in pins that I am actually doing or will consider doing to get healthier. One of these days I plan to start blogging about my personal choices and weight loss journey.

Do you struggle with making healthier choices? What are you doing to keep it healthy for you and your family? I would love to know. If you have post on your blog, please link them up so I can visit you. No blog? Just leave your comments below!

HOW TO JOIN THE LINKY below- (do any of the following)

1) Pin this Party Post to Pinterest- Please! Why? To let others know about the party. It advertises the party so more people see it which in turn more people will see what you pin and give you traffic.

2) Add your Pinterest name to the linky. If you aren't on Pinterest and want an invite, leave a comment and emailaddy.

3) Link up anything you want to be pinned! No limit. We just ask that you make sure your post has a decent picture.

4) In turn pin a few things on the linky.

5) If you want to host the party on your blog, scroll down and take the code. Make your own Pinterest Saturday page. That way you will get more attention to your blog.

CRAFT Package Pals

June I joined Jamie's C.R.A.F.T Package pals. It was my first time participating and it was fun! You can participate each month and you sign up each month. Click  package pals to get more information. It is so easy to do! Just send a crafty package to your assigned person. (see more info here) Sign ups will happen again at the end of July for August PP’s! and the limit of the package pals is 100 people.

My pal was Carrie. It was fun meeting her and chatting in email. We found out that her and I are both pastor wives. It is a small world after all! I put together a few crafty projects for her. I made showed her how you can store small ribbon in Tic Tac boxes.....

Make a Give Thanks Jar. She just moved and thought it would help her family remember things that they are thank ful for while adjusting to their new move.
I bought a package of clothes pins and sent her ribbon and a sample of how she can create fun clothes pins.
I also gave her a package of Sunprint Kit which allows you to create art with the sun. I thought it would be something her kids would enjoy.

Stop over and visit Carrie at Quite Carried Away! She was an awesome pal. She was really crazy to do this month because she was in the middle of a move! Even so, she put together a fun box for me.
She sent me coffee, chalk top canister, awesome coffee mug, some of her favorite recipes (thanks I can't wait to try them) an a fun place mat purse that she made! I love it!

Happy National (healthy) French Fry Day

Ok admit it- sometimes you crave a fast food french fry. I know I do. I use to easily eat a large container of my favorite hot, crunchy and salty, fried potato stick. I now eat one single fry. It is enough to remind me what will happen to my body if I eat a large and enough to satisfy my craving for those said french fries! With that being said I am still thrilled to celebrate National French Fry Day!

Why? Even thought french fries are known to be unhealthy, they can also be prepared in healthy ways so they can be enjoyed in moderation and not totally kill the diet/healthier eating plan. French fries are America's favorite side to go along with burgers, hot dogs, sandwiches and more!

Here are some healthier versions that will satisfy your need for a hot, crunchy, salty side or snack.

Amy Sherman created Paprika Fries. She said that they smell like bacon (drool) without the calories and fat. These are recommended to be served as a tasty dinner side dish or even along side your scrambled eggs. If aioli or garlic mayo are on your eating plan then use those as dips to give these fries a Spanish twist. Her Paprika Fries also make great tapas for parties- quick & easy finger food! Amy recommends that you make these in the ActiFry which will give you the healthiest version possible.
Amy Sherman’s Paprika Fries
Preparation Time: 15 minutes
Cooking Time: 35 minutes
Serve: 4 people

§  1 ¾ lbs baking potatoes such as Yukon gold
§  ½ ActiFry spoon paprika (or ½ a tablespoon)
§  2 ActiFry spoons vegetable oil (or 2 tablespoons)
§  ½ tsp salt (approx.)

1.       Peel the potatoes and cut into fries of equal thickness, no more than ²⁄3 inch in square thickness recommended. Rinse fries thoroughly in water; drain well. Use a clean kitchen towel to thoroughly dry the fries.
2.       Place the fries in a bowl. Toss gently with the paprika and half of the oil to evenly coat the fries.
3.       Transfer the fries to the ActiFry pan; drizzle evenly with the remaining oil. Cook for 30 to 40 minutes or until the fries are golden and cooked through, (the cooking time will vary depending on the thickness of the fries and the variety of potato used). Season fries with salt (adjust to taste).
4.       Variation: Toss the potatoes with any of your favorite seasoning blends such as Montreal steak spice, Tex Mex seasoning or garlic-herb blend.

Ps- Amy recommends that you cook these in the t-fal ActiFry pan for the healthiest way to eat them but you do not need to cook them that way!

Click to check out the Gluten Free Baked Carrot Fries! Sooo good!

Enjoy the day! What is your favorite way to eat a French Fry? Who makes the best fries?

3M Mobile Projector Fun Movie Watching! #3MSummerFun

We have always wanted to do a drive-in or shall we say outdoor "sit-in" movie for the girls and their friends. I never knew how to make that possible until the new 3M Mobile Projector came along! We were asked to review this sweet new toy a few weeks ago. I jumped on the chance to make a fun movie night for my girls. Little did I know when the projector arrived we would have 2 weeks of temps over 100 degrees. The temps are not usually that high and dry for that long so we had to move the party in the house.

This little 1.2 inch X 2.6 inch x 5.9 inch and .65lb projector was simple to use. Within minutes of taking it out of the box it was set up and used to watch movies, play video games, look at pictures and even act as a projector for conference crowds. The large projection is perfect for playing Angry Birds, too! Not that I know anything about that!! Of course in our home all the teens and hubby wanted to know if YouTube works, too! Guess what? They were all thrilled to know that YES you can watch YouTube with the projector!
For our movie night the girls chose Finding Nemo because it was a movie that all ages could watch and one that hasn't been seen around here in years. We set up a drink, a salty snack and a sweet bar for them to pick whatever snacks they wanted throughout the movie. It was a fun family event and everyone wants to do it again! We are hoping that the next time we will get to have it outside and make smores and chili on the open fire.
The projector puts off a clear picture. It is very versatile because we were able to view it on a white sheet that we tacked to the wall as well as directly on the wall. My husband was a speaker at a youth conference this summer and love that he could use this as part of his slide show presentation. He didn't get to use it this year but it could be an option next year. The device conveniently has a power adapter/charge to make this possible. The best news is that it has a 2 hour internal rechargeable battery! I love that 3M gave this projector a rechargeable battery!

The sound was just fine for in the house. To make the sound project even more you can hook it up to external speakers which is probably needed for outdoors. The 3M Mobile Projector works with the iPad, iPhone and even the iPod Touch, Nano and Classic. Thank you 3M for making a wonderful product so compatible with our Apple devices!

Because the device is so small, we needed to prop it up on some boxes to get the screen where we wanted it. This reminded me of the days when we would prop up the school projectors and slide show machines on school books! 3M added a tripod spot on the bottom of the projector! Win! Another reason why I love this little machine!
I can't see why anyone wouldn't want to own this projector. It is so versatile! Our family can see a lot of future uses with this fun piece of technology. How about you? Do you think that this is something your family would use?

Stop over and check out 3M Mobile Projectors website, Facebook and Twitter pages. Watch for sales and coupons for this power packed piece of technology, too!

I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of 3M and received a promotional item to thank me for taking the time to participate.
