The Best Way To Help Babies Learn

The Best Way To Help Babies LearnLike most new moms, I was a crazy worrier about Baby Bear. Was she developing properly? Learning everything "on time". What was she supposed to learn next? How could I help her learn? Honestly, I was obsessed (click here to read a letter to all mamas who think they don't do enough). And while I still do this sometimes in the back of my head, gradually I have…See More

How To Introduce Nuts To Your Baby

No matter what feeding path you chose for your little one, introducing nuts is scary. And most mamas put it off until absolutely necessary. But introducing nuts to your babe doesn't have to be a big event. In fact, I have a simple protocol that I used before allowing my daughter to consume any of the major allergens (nuts,…See More

Hi Shelby, oh, so sorry to hear you had to pump and struggled with low milk supply. Sounds like it was a real mission . Congratulations on working so hard to give your baby 5 months of breast milk. Every drop matters. I admire your dedication under tricky circumstances. I never worked out how to pump... but I was lucky...  I didn't have to.

I had all the right advice before I set out breastfeeding (great antenatal classes with an IBCLC). As a result I knew all the tricks to help me set up my milk supply in the first 6 weeks (ideally natural birth, no meds, no epidural, skin to skin directly birth, demand feeding rather than scheduling feeds etc), and so I had an oversupply of milk at first.  Plus my son loved nursing -

Plus my son loved nursing - still does (he turned 3 on 3 October).  My plan is to keep feeding him until he weans himself, which is starting to happen. It's a gradual process though. Some days he feeds a lot and other days hardly at all.  Sometimes I say no to a feed now, (if it's an awkward social situation) and he's (usually) cool with that. He still goes down on a feed and likes to wake to a feed, but sleeps through the night now.

Sorry... rambling on... you got me on my favourite subject... he he... xx
