How to Save on Gas

For a long time I just accepted that the costs of gas were a part of life.  I never checked which gas station was cheapest; I always figured that they were pretty much all the same and who cares about a cent or two here and there? When I moved recently, just a couple of towns over (from richy-richy Avon, CT to working-class Bristol); same state, same county even, I couldn’t help but notice that gas is always .20 to .25 cents cheaper across the board.  I am still having sticker shock and started…See More

Beignets

This is a little more intermediate in its scope.  They are delicious though and I love to make them on the weekends as a little treat.  Very little sugar, but since you have to fry them they are on the fatty side.  Everyone needs a treat every so often though. The tricky part is really rolling the dough out thin enough that when you put it in the oil it cooks all the way through without getting too crispy on the outside.  I always have a few that are really doughy inside and it take a couple of…See More

Healthy Oatmeal Muffins

Here is a healthier muffin recipe.  I like to make them a lot, mainly for my toddler who won’t touch oatmeal (or yogurt, or cream of wheat, or anything of that texture). It still has sugar in it, obviously, but it does make me feel like he is eating at least a little bit of oats and he loves them.  They are not at all overly sweet and are a perfect easy breakfast for the whole family. Read…See More

What is your blogging philosophy?
I try to blog for others in order to help them. It's been hard for my family financially starting out and I think we've done a great job at it. So I like to share what I've learned and have been having a great time doing it.
