Is Gambling a Man's Thing? We Dare to Disagree

To be a professional gambler, you need to be a man - at least this is what many media outlets and society as a whole are trying to tell us. Of course, men are seen as being risk-takers but this doesn't necessarily translate into them being the only gender to enjoy playing casino games. Stats show that as many women enjoy a few spins on a Royal Vegas slot machine than…

For me it would be an entire series. The series I am reading right now is the Stephanie Plum Series by Jane Evanovich. There are 22 books in the series and they all link together. I have read the first 21 books and bought the 22nd last month when it was released so I am reading them again to lead me up to the last book. It is a fun series and you can really relate to the characters.

I'm trying to make my way through this list of 21 Books Every Woman Should Read and blogging about each one as I do.

So far my favorite is Her by Christa Parravani.

Hands down Brene Brown's The Gifts of Imperfection. So many of us strive to be perfect, not realizing that perfection doesn't even exist!

When Breath becomes Air by  Paul Kalanithi a very poignant but uplifting book. I finished it in one day because I couldn't put it down. True, you know the ending in advance, but it's told with such intelligence and wit and feeling, it was beautiful. And the epilogue by his wife was very touching and fine. Very good book.

This last year was Biblical Parenting, it was a really great read. This year so pfar I am trying to make my way through " Simply Tuesday"

I read The Alchemist and the end of the story was a real learning about life and goals.. I loved it..

I have read two fantastic novels back-to-back this month. I can't pick just one. Terese Fowler's "Z: The Beginning of Everything" and Paula McLain's "The Paris Wife," are both riveting page turners.

Admittedly, I ordered "Z" after binge watching the Amazon series, but then a trip to my local library and a very well read librarian's suggestion led me to "The Paris Wife." Its the story of Ernest Hemingway's early years as told by his first wife, Hadley.

Everyone should read both books; they're that good!

I recently bought "Stuck in Downward Dog" by Chantel Simmons. This is a kind of chic-lit heroine who experienced a lot of bad things in her life like being dumped by her boyfriend and being left with a futon and a pile of unpaid bills. This book teaches you how to get unstuck when you're  caught in a rut.
